Does Your Team “Buy In” to Your Vision?

And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord…..And all the people entered into the covenant (2 Kings 23:3).

Effective leadership includes developing a clear organization mission and vision, with achievable goals to measure progress and success. The next important step is to get your staff to enter into your mission and vision.

It isn’t enough simply to explain the plan; your team must be given an opportunity to embrace it. Start by enlisting the support of your managers and supervisors. Without unified support for your vision, they will not be working together toward a common purpose, which will only result in dissension and distraction.

Start boldly stating your plan and ask your team to respond with suggestions for implementation and follow-through. Make your vision easy to grasp and your team will take ownership of the process. The resulting unity of purpose will bring success to the organization’s vision.
