How’s Your Ability to Last?

Several years ago, a jet airline that had circled the Portland airport for nearly an hour because its landing gear wouldn’t go down, crashed in a field just short of the runway.  One hundred and seventy-four passengers miraculously survived.  While the crew had been concentrating on solving the landing gear problem, they had failed to realize the severity of another developing problem:  The plane was running out of fuel.

This is not an isolated example.  According to USA Today, over the last nine years, 39 passenger planes have taken off, or left the gate without enough fuel.

This is a problem some achievers face.

But he [Jesus] said unto them [the disciples], I have meat [fuel] to eat that ye know not of.                                                                                                John 4:32

In the story He told of the ten virgins who went to attend a wedding feast. (Matthew 25:1-13).  Jesus taught on this concept of having a mindset to finish.  The five who had reserves entered in, while the five who had to leave missed the celebration.

If you desire to achieve continuing success, it is critical that you have long-term thinking.  You must be certain that you have enough energy, resources, and motivation to finish the course.

“The Fueling Edge”

There are several things you can do in the natural arena to stay “fueled up.”

  • Make a “Dream List” and Stay Motivated.  Regularly talk about, see, and touch its items.

  • Associate with Successful People.  Pick up their attitudes and habits.  Learn their success secrets.

  • Attend Power-Packed Meetings.  Gain knowledge on how to endure and experience breakthroughs.

  • Read Books and Listen to Motivational and Teaching Tapes.  Repetition is the best way to get new truths imbedded into your subconscious.

  • Make Positive Confirmations.  Your world is framed by your words.  Talk about your desired destinations.

  • Identify Fuel Leaks.  Eliminate or reduce those things that drain you of productive energy and creativity.

  • Sustain Spiritual Strength.  Through regular devotions keep your “spirit man” strong.

Don’t run out of fuel short of the destination of your dreams.  Keep your tanks topped off by investing time in personal, mental, physical and spiritual renewal.

How can you extend the range of your days?  Your life?  What are you doing to maintain your “fueling edge” physically?  Mentally?  Spiritually?
