Fools Described in Proverbs – Part II

“The crown of the wise is their riches, but the foolishness of fools is folly.”

                                                         Proverbs 14:24

Whether you are a businessperson or leader in some other capacity – wisdom is a prerequisite for success. One cannot expect to “get ahead” in life if he makes foolish decisions very often.

Proverbs describes one kind of fool as a person who makes poor choices about how and where to “invest” his life (Prov. 14:24).  From beginning to end, he trades away the most valuable things that he has for the most worthless.  That is why Proverbs describes him as committing foolishness that yields nothing but folly.  While the wise person wears a crown of riches, the fool can be said to wear a dunce cap of folly.

But this is not the only type of fool we find in Proverbs, there are actually four more.  This inspiration will address The Simple. Notice the outcomes that Proverbs warns about the Simple.

The Simple

This person can’t tell the difference between truth and falsehood.  Because he lacks direction, he is headed for a fall.

  • Loves simplicity (1:22).
  • Is devoid of understanding (7:7).
  • Is gullible (9.4, 16; 14:15)

The Simple Outcomes

  • Will die for turning away from wisdom (1:32).
  • Is destined for folly (14:18, 24)

Are you leaning toward any of the characteristics of The Simple? What steps are you prepared to take to avoid any of these characteristics from taking hold in your life?

For the kingdom,
